Mission and focus

The Association des Avocats et Avocats en droit familial du Québec (AADFQ) is a non-profit corporation founded in 1985, bringing together between four hundred (400) and five hundred (500) members in almost all the judicial districts of the province.

Fifteen (15) directors sit on the Board of Directors of the Association, which meets monthly. The Association organizes sub-committees, focusing on different aspects of the practice of family law. Also, the President of the Association sits on the Family Law Liaison Committee and a member of the Board also sits on the Liaison Committee with the Court of Appeal.

Dissemination of Essential Information : Our foremost responsibility is to meticulously curate and circulate indispensable insights for legal practitioners specializing in family law. This encompasses a comprehensive spectrum of resources, ranging from legal briefings and informational communiqués to memoranda delineating salient points concerning diverse legislative revisions. Timely notifications regarding alterations to procedural regulations, along with updates from the Barreau du Québec, constitute integral facets of our information dissemination effort.
Elevating Professional Development : A pivotal facet of our endeavor is the meticulous curation of accredited conferences and training sessions, sanctioned by the Barreau du Québec for the purpose of fulfilling mandatory continuing education requisites. These intellectually enriching opportunities are rendered accessible at a nominal cost, facilitating the ongoing refinement of legal acumen and expertise.
Advocacy in Legal Matters : In select instances, we take up an active role in judicial proceedings pertaining to critical matters within the realm of family law. This intervention serves as a testament to our commitment to championing the principles of justice and equity within the familial legal framework.
